Insanity

I never claimed to be sane

“Insanity — a perfectly rational adjustment to an insane world.”
R. D. Lang

Today I decided to hop on the Insanity bandwagon.  While some women collect shoes and handbags, I have a tendency to collect workout gear and videos.  I mean, you’d look pretty silly at the beach sporting Manolo slingbacks and Louis Vuitton clutch, but you can’t go wrong with a set of rock hard abs and killer arms.  Let me start off by posting a disclaimer:  I am not doing this to lose weight.  I am tiny, I know.  Most people would sell their first born for my “Before” abs and arms.  My goal for this little experiment is to get stronger.  Like Incredible Hulk strong.  I do not want to look like a delicate little princess out there on the Tough Mudder course this summer.  I intend to scale every obstacle and look fabulous doing it.  So if my butt gets a little firmer and the thighs a little more defined in the process, it’s just an added bonus.

Today was Day 1 – The Fit Test.  Probably not the smartest idea to start the day after running a half marathon.  My legs and upper back were not too happy with me today.  I should have grabbed more of the Mexican pain killers.  On the plus side, my scores on day 15 should look amazing compared to the piddly effort I was able to muster up today.  I’ll be tracking my progress over the next 2 months.  I’ve learned never to take a picture of yourself the day after a long run, so the “Before” pictures will have to wait until tomorrow.  Give you a little something to look forward to so you”ll have to come back for more.

Insanity Before Pic

Here is my before picture.  Not bad for a before picture, especially when you factor in that I just spent 2 weeks fueling myself solely on hot chocolate and Christmas cookies.  I’m pretty sure I read about that pre-race diet in a running magazine somewhere.  Bikinis just made their appearance at Target, so lets see if there’s any room for improvement.
